We’ve all had those unproductive study sessions. We may have chosen the wrong time to study, we may have used an approach that doesn’t suit us, we may have chosen to study in a group when it would have been better to study alone (or vice versa), or we could very well have chosen the wrong place! Choosing a comfortable place to study can help get you focused on what you’re trying to learn.
Here are a few places that I think are good candidates for studying:
This is undeniably the number 1 spot that people go to study. The main reason is because it is quiet. For some people, it is also a way to get away from the distractions at home. There is also some pressure to study when everybody around you is also studying.
This is another place that I like study at. Coffee helps keep you awake when you study. Most coffee shops also provide free Wi-Fi, which you can use for your online learning materials, just not Facebook or YouTube!
Only if the weather is nice, of course. There’s something relaxing about being outside and getting a feel of Mother Nature. Just make sure to check the weather forecast before you head out.
This is another one of my favorite places to study. There is the benefit of having your very own workspace, tailored to your needs, in the comfort of your own home. The downside is that there are usually distractions that could prevent you from being productive. Make sure your laptop is out of sight unless you need it. Your phone should be on silent mode and out of sight as well so that you’re not distracted by Candy Crush notifications. You could even hang a “DO NOT DISTURB” sign in front of your door.
Where is your favorite place to study?
